There were well-established trade routes for amber connecting the Baltic with the Mediterranean (known as the "<a href="page.php?w=Amber_Road">Amber Road</a>"). Pliny states explicitly that the Germans exported amber to <a href="page.php?w=Pannonia">Pannonia</a>, from where the <a href="page.php?w=Adriatic_Veneti">Veneti</a> distributed it onwards.</p><p>
