It is listed as the first <a href="page.php?w=Mahapurana_%28Hinduism%29">Mahapurana</a> in all anthologies, and is therefore also called Adi Purana. Another title for this text is Saura Purana, because it includes many chapters related to <a href="page.php?w=Surya">Surya</a>, the sun god.
