<p>A <b>carbon monoxide detector</b> or <b>CO detector</b> is a device which detects the presence of <a href="page.php?w=carbon_monoxide">carbon monoxide</a> (CO) gas, and is used to prevent <a href="page.php?w=carbon_monoxide_poisoning">carbon monoxide poisoning</a>. Most CO detectors use a sensor with a defined, limited lifespan, and will not work indefinitely.</p>
