Casamance is the area of Senegal south of the Gambia, including the Casamance River. It consists of the Lower Casamance (Basse Casamance, Baixa Casamança--i.e. Ziguinchor Region) and the Upper Casamance (Haute Casamance, Alta Casamança--i.e. Kolda and Sédhiou Regions).
