Corn Islands is a municipality of the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. It is located approximately 70 km east of the Caribbean mainland. The municipality consists of two islands: Big Corn Island (Isla Grande del Maíz) and Little Corn Island (Isla Pequeña del Maíz). The islands are known for their Afro-Caribbean cultural heritage, coral reef ecosystems and tourism-based economy.
