There is one extant species, Dromaius novaehollandiae, commonly known as the <a href="page.php?w=emu">emu</a>.</p>

<p>In his original 1816 description of the emu, <a href="page.php?w=Louis_Pierre_Vieillot">Louis Pierre Vieillot</a> used two <a href="page.php?w=genus">generic</a> names; first Dromiceius, then Dromaius a few pages later. Which label is correct</p><p>
