A founding figure of <a href="page.php?w=sociology">sociology</a>, his <a href="page.php?w=neo-Kantian">neo-Kantian</a> approach helped establish sociological <a href="page.php?w=antipositivism">antipositivism</a>, asking "What is society?" in analogy to Kant's "What is nature?". He pioneered analyses of <a href="page.php?w=Individualism">individuality</a> and <a href="page.php?w=Fragmentation_%28sociology%29">social fragmentation</a>.</p><p>
