The term is rooted in the <a href="page.php?w=anti-Hindi_agitations_of_Tamil_Nadu">anti-Hindi agitations of Tamil Nadu</a>, where it was proposed for Hindi to be taught in schools in the <a href="page.php?w=Madras_Presidency">Madras Presidency</a>.</p><p>
