<p>A <b>kirtle</b> (sometimes called a <b><a href="page.php?w=cotte">cotte</a></b> or a <b>cotehardie</b>) is a garment that was worn by men and women in the European <a href="page.php?w=Middle_Ages">Middle Ages</a>. It eventually became a one-piece garment worn by women from the late Middle Ages into the <a href="page.php?w=Baroque">Baroque</a> period.
