It has its origins in <a href="page.php?w=Teochew_cuisine">Teochew cuisine</a> and is typically used in <a href="page.php?w=Cantonese_cuisine">Cantonese</a> and <a href="page.php?w=Fujian_cuisine">Fujian</a> cuisines. Foods poached or braised in the master stock are generally referred to as <a href="page.php?w=lou_mei">lou mei</a>.</p><p>
