<p>A <b>mechanical filter</b> is a <a href="page.php?w=filter_%28signal_processing%29">signal processing filter</a> usually used in place of an <a href="page.php?w=electronic_filter">electronic filter</a> at <a href="page.php?w=radio_frequency">radio frequencies</a>.  Its purpose is the same as that of a normal electronic filter: to pass a range of signal frequencies, but to block others.
