He received a B.A. in math and physics from <a href="page.php?w=Manchester_University_%28Indiana%29">Manchester University (Indiana)</a> in 1936, an M.A. in physics from the <a href="page.php?w=University_of_Kansas">University of Kansas</a></p><p>
