Overview

Pony clubs began in England in 1929 by Harry Faudel-Phillips to encourage children to start riding. Memberships increased quickly, and the idea of pony clubs spread rapidly, with clubs started in other nations--Canada in 1934, Australia in 1939, New Zealand in 1944, and the United States in 1954.
