<p><b>Townships</b> , formally <b>township-level divisions</b> , are the basic level (fourth-level administrative units) of <a href="page.php?w=Administrative_divisions_of_China">political divisions</a> in the <a href="page.php?w=China">People's Republic of China</a>. They are similar to municipalities and communes in other countries and in turn may contain village committees and villages.
