Historically in Europe, broadsides were used as posters, announcing events or proclamations, giving political views, commentary in the form of <a href="page.php?w=broadside_ballad">ballads</a>, or simply advertisements. In Japan, <a href="page.php?w=Chromoxylography">chromoxylographic</a> broadsheets featuring artistic prints were common.</p>
