Fixed action patterns are said to be produced by the innate releasing mechanism, a "hard-wired" <a href="page.php?w=neural_network">neural network</a>, in response to a <a href="page.php?w=Fixed_action_pattern">sign/key stimulus</a> or <b>releaser</b>.
