<p><b>Mechanotaxis</b> refers to the directed movement of cell <a href="page.php?w=motility">motility</a> via mechanical cues (e.g., fluidic <a href="page.php?w=shear_stress">shear stress</a>, substrate stiffness gradients, etc.).  In response to fluidic shear stress, for example, cells have been shown to migrate in the direction of the fluid flow.
