Sliding window protocols are used where reliable in-order delivery of packets is required, such as in the <a href="page.php?w=data_link_layer">data link layer</a> (<a href="page.php?w=OSI_model">OSI layer 2</a>) as well as in the <a href="page.php?w=Transmission_Control_Protocol">Transmission Control Protocol</a> (i.e., <a href="page.php?w=TCP_windowing">TCP windowing</a>).</p><p>
